Story #55: Chin up, shoulders back, walk proud

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. - Mark Twain
~ Thanks to Famous Quotes and Quotations

I know I'm not alone in this...there are times when you feel like you just hit a wall. You try to break it down, but it doesn't even dent or crack. You try to climb over it, but you can't get a grip to even take your step off the ground. You try to walk around, but the wall doesn't seem to have an end. The longer you wait, the wider it gets. The wider it gets, the more discouraged you become...the smaller you feel...the higher the wall seems. It's a never ending cycle that takes you down. The external pressures, the people around you, the negative energy fed from the biggest critic of them all...yourself.
You can't let the words of others hold you back because no one knows your true strength the way you do. Don't let self-doubt hold you back, because in life, no matter how hard you try, no matter how many times you put the past on rerun, you can't go back. Don't let your fears hold you back. Take it from the words of the most influential people in history, Nelson Mandela:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
And going back to Story #38: Fall Forward. Be a first hand witness to yourself, you can accomplish anything. A little cheesy, right? You can accomplish anything that you set your mind on? And we believe it to be cheesy because, seriously...you can be and do anything...as long as you set your mind on it? Surprisingly, the answer is yes. Be honest with your heart and logical with your mind and you will find that what you truly desire and yearn for, you can achieve. So which ever path you decide to walk down, no matter what life throws at you, and no matter how many times you stumble, chin up, shoulders back, and walk proud. Don't let others or your self doubts belittle your ambitions.

So what's up with all these lengthy posts? Something, someone, somewhere has put it in my heart to write down all these thoughts that I have, myself, been contemplating on. Moving forward to the updates on when my life meets reality...I've been in this acting and modeling industry for almost 5 months and although I have a long, long, long way to go, I have accomplished a lot. I have been featured in films and tv shows. I have played a principal role in a print ad. I have all three SAG waivers needed to be eligible to join SAG. I am an AFTRA member. And I officially going to be a part of the IMDB search after I finish working tomorrow on Hell's Kitchen! :)

Outside of that, this Saturday, the young adults and the married couples of GCC are competing in a softball tournament! I can't wait! :)

More updates to come!
