Supersize vs. Superskinny

So, after hours upon hours of watching diet and health shows broadcasted in the UK (thanks to Youtube), I have decided that since it has consumed such a large part of my night, that it was worth sharing with you all.

Up until 4am last night/this morning, I was watching the show, Supersize vs. Superskinny. "Documentary series in which two extreme eaters - one very overweight and the other severely underweight - swap diets in an attempt to change the way they view food and eating" (Channel4). At first, watching this show and seeing how they swap the meals of a very large person with a significantly underweight person, I had many reservations; such as, is this really the healthy way to go about doing things? But, by the end of the first episode, I realized that the damage each person was doing to their bodies to begin with was already deadly to begin with, and that the benefits of their realizations far outweigh the negatives (plus they only did this for a few days). On top of keeping track of the contestant's progress, there were side features ranging from which diets work and which don't, which work-outs will help you achieve that killer thin and lean body, and stories of anorexics seeking help going through a clinic's program. I do admit, there are a few dry and repetitive areas of the show...thank God for Youtube - fast forward!!

A message for those who were toooo skinny and do not always have a well balanced diet, check those hands! If you have pale lines/creases on your palm, you may be at risk for iron deficency. Not surprisingly, America is the hotspot for new foods and food diets. In NY, we find that raw food is the latest food diet; we refer to these people as rawists. We also find that there is rising demand for food coaches -- people who you can call throughout the day to help you stay on your diet and not cave in to your cravings. As for diets, there are many diets out there, and the majority of them are just not worth the effort with such little outcome. If you are desperate for help, try hypnosis. Even a skeptical UK woman found that it had the best outcome. She went from craving sweets and large portions of food to eating more fruits, veggies and smaller portions.

Stay tuned for the next TV show series I've been watching -- hint: what foods you should start including to your diet to stay healthy and young[-looking].  :)
